CO-Founder
Matt has spent a lifetime in rugby, from representing New Zealand Colts and playing provincial rugby before building a distinguished career with Fylde RFC and Bath Rugby. His experience across elite performance, club leadership and grassroots rugby helps ensure Kohd delivers practical solutions that strengthen clubs, support volunteers and build stronger communities for future generations.
Matt’s rugby journey began in New Zealand, where he represented the New Zealand Colts and played provincial rugby for both Otago XV and Counties Manukau before relocating to England in 1996. His passion for the game and commitment to high standards quickly established him as a respected front-row player, earning a move to Bath Rugby before becoming one of the defining figures of Fylde RFC’s modern era.
At Fylde, Matt’s contribution extended far beyond the first team. As a highly respected prop and later First XV captain, he helped shape the culture, standards and values of one of England’s leading community rugby clubs. His influence continued long after his playing career, giving countless hours to coaching Mini & Junior rugby, mentoring players, supporting volunteers and taking on whatever role was needed to help the club succeed.
Matt’s commitment to grassroots rugby culminated in serving as Chairman of Fylde RFC from 2021 to 2025, leading the club through an important period of development while championing the volunteers, members and local community that form the heart of every successful club. Whether providing strategic leadership, supporting matchday operations or helping behind the scenes, he has always believed that strong clubs are built by people willing to contribute wherever they are needed.
As Co-Founder of Kohd, Matt brings together the unique perspective of an international representative player, provincial rugby competitor, club captain, chairman, coach and lifelong volunteer. He understands first-hand the challenges faced by community clubs and is passionate about ensuring technology supports—not replaces—the people who dedicate their time to grassroots sport. His practical, club-first approach helps keep every KOHD solution grounded in the realities of club life, ensuring that every product is designed to strengthen organisations, reduce volunteer burden and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
