Gary Reynolds
Kohd Heritage: R58YAA
Gary Reynolds first arrived at Old Bath Road in 1991, bringing his sons Jake and Seb to the Minis section. That initial connection as a rugby parent would mark the beginning of a relationship with Rams RFC spanning more than three decades.
Over the years, Reynolds progressed through multiple service roles within the club structure. He served as a coach, worked as Director of Rugby, and chaired the Playing Committee, each position deepening his involvement in the club's operations and development. The trajectory reflected a pattern common in community rugby clubs, where parental involvement often evolves into broader institutional commitment.
In 2013, Reynolds assumed the role of CEO, a position from which he would oversee a significant period in the club's history. During his tenure as chief executive, Rams RFC experienced substantial progression both on the pitch and in its infrastructure. The club climbed through the English rugby league structure from Level Five to National One, though the club had at one stage dropped to Level Eight before the ascent. This represented movement through multiple tiers of competitive rugby in England's complex league pyramid.
The physical transformation of Old Bath Road during this period was equally notable. The club rebuilt its clubhouse and added several major facilities: a stand for spectators, new floodlights to enable evening fixtures and training, a gym for player conditioning, and an indoor arena that extended the club's operational capability beyond weather-dependent outdoor facilities. These developments represented significant capital investment and marked a shift in the club's infrastructure capacity.
Reynolds maintained connections between his professional and rugby lives through Courtiers, where he worked, which became the club's principal sponsor. This relationship provided institutional support that complemented the club's development trajectory.
The progression from a parent bringing young sons to mini rugby in 1991 to chief executive overseeing National One rugby and comprehensive facility development illustrates both personal dedication and the collaborative nature of club growth. While Reynolds held leadership positions during this transformative period, the achievements reflected the collective efforts inherent in rugby club advancement—players, coaches, administrators, sponsors, and the broader club community all contributing to the institution's evolution over more than two decades.
