Myles Landick's story belongs at Jersey RFC because it is hard to separate the man from the Island. Born in Jersey in 1989, Landick played prop from youth level through to the professional era.

As a prop forward, Landick was part of the Jersey side that won promotion to the Championship in 2012. He also worked as groundsman at St. Peter while playing—a unique combination that told you everything about Island rugby.

Landick came through Jersey's under-18 academy and won the Hampshire RFU U18 Cup in 2007. He made his first-team debut in 2010 against Guernsey in the Siam Cup—the Island derby that mattered more than league points.

After retiring from playing, Landick became head coach of Jersey Athletic in 2015. Jersey Athletic had been founded in 2013 as the amateur side of what was then Jersey Rugby Football Club, allowing local players to represent Jersey while the professional team competed in the Championship.

In July 2022, the RFU approved a historic split: Jersey Athletic became Jersey RFC, a fully independent amateur club, and entered the English rugby pyramid at Counties 1 Hampshire. Landick led them as head coach, starting from level seven.

Then in September 2023, the professional Jersey Reds collapsed into administration after financial issues. Jersey RFC, legally separate since the 2022 split, continued.

What followed was a rapid rise. Jersey RFC won every game in their first season, taking the Counties 1 Hampshire title. Their second season brought the Regional 2 South Central title. And in April 2026, after winning 21 of their 22 matches, they secured the Regional 1 South Central title and promotion to National League 2 East—the fourth tier of English rugby.

Myles Landick, now Director of Rugby, had taken Jersey RFC from level seven to level four in three promotions across four seasons. Not through paying players or full-time professionalism, but through continuity and the pathway players he had been developing since 2015.

The former Reds players who stayed on the Island after the club collapsed—with jobs outside rugby—helped the young players coming through. "I've had some of the lads here since they were Colts all those years ago with Jersey Athletic," Landick told BBC Radio Jersey. "To see them now thriving in this environment on the brink of being promoted into the National League is absolutely amazing."

Jersey RFC will remain amateur. "We're not going to pay players ever again," Landick said in March 2024. "It's just to be sustainable and make sure we can continue to provide playing opportunities for young men and women coming through."

In October 2026, Jersey RFC are competing in National League 2 East for the first time. The pitch at St. Peter now hosts national league rugby again. Nineteen years after winning that under-18 cup, Myles Landick is still here. Player for Jersey until 2012. Coach of Jersey Athletic from 2015. Director of Rugby for Jersey RFC from 2023 to present. The man who never left built something that lasted.
